Laptops

Laptops, or Laptop Computers are often referred to as a notebook. They are designed to be easily transportable therefore they weigh very little and are reasonable in size.

Laptops tend to be operated via a built in keyboard and a touchpad although an external keyboard and mouse can be fitted if this is preferred. The portable computers can be powered by an internal battery or by an external power adapter that is also used to charge the internal battery.

There are three main types of laptops, these being; desktop replacement computers, subnotebooks and netbooks.

A desktop replacement computer is still a portable laptop that provides all the essential services but as a whole they are larger and more bulkier than your everyday laptops. They offer a larger screen but the battery life isn’t as good as other laptops and they are much heavier, so not as easy to transport.

A subnotebook is a small laptop that doesn’t weigh a lot, making it easy to transport. The usual services that you would expect from a computer are provided on the laptop and the screen size is typically smaller than full sized laptops. This type of laptop is becoming more and more popular due to it being highly portable.

A netbook is a newer, smaller and more compact version of a laptop. They are very easy to transport with screens as small as 10 inches. The size and weight of the machines make them an efficient and convenient laptop to be used by people who are constantly on the go.

There are many brands of laptops including Acer, Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Dell. Laptops can be purchased in many computer stores throughout the country as well as via the internet with some great online deals.
