The internet is ready made for finance and with that comes the growth in finance price comparison sites; Money Supermarket is perhaps the most famous of these.

Formed in 1999, Money Supermarket are not only associated with finance, they also offer a price comparison travel website as well as a full online shopping area featuring items from computers to office stationary. They even offer prices from Gas and Electric companies.

In 2007, Money Supermarket turned over more than £160m and at one point this year they were valued at over £450m. All of this from earnings by supplying their visitors the supposed cheapest options via price comparison. Well to make £160m, Money Supermarket must be making a lot of commission from their website visitors. Does that mean they could actually be cheaper? Perhaps!

Are finance price comparison sites any good? Well that is a matter of opinion, they make money from commissions and thereby could be subject to offering products that are good for them, in other words makes them more profit. That is not to say that companies such as Money Supermarket are out to trick people, they do offer lots of choice, but not necessarily offer all the cheapest options.

This website is set to be a major competitor to Money Supermarket only cheaper! As to when that will happen is a matter of time, probably the 9 years it took them to reach where they are now.
