Travel Insurance
When it comes to travelling it is important to take out Travel Insurance to protect yourself. Travel insurance is there to cover any medical expenses, financial loss and other losses that may be incurred whilst travelling. You can carry out travel insurance whilst travelling either in your own country or more commonly whilst abroad. The insurance must be arranged before the start of the trip and is to cover the entire duration.
There are many types of travel insurance to suit different needs, some of the types include; student travel insurance, business travel, adventure travel, leisure travel, cruise travel and international travel.
You can purchase travel insurance from many suppliers including travel insurance companies and various travel agents. You can also purchase the insurance direct from travel suppliers such as cruise lines or tour operators if you would prefer. You should be aware however that if you opt to purchase your insurance direct from travel suppliers then the insurance is likely to be less inclusive than that offered by a travel insurance company.
Travel insurance is designed to help with expenses that may be incurred for common risks such as medical expenses, legal assistance, emergency evacuation and loss, theft or damage to personal possessions and money, this includes travel documents. You will also be covered for accidental death, injury or disablement benefit and in many instances overseas funeral expenses.
It is to be noted that you will not be covered for any pre-existing medical conditions that are incurred before you begin travelling, pregnancy related expenses and any injury or illness caused due to alcohol or drugs. Most travel insurance policies will not cover you for any war or terrorism either.
