Owned by Thomson holidays, Thomson Cruises are a budget cruise line with five ships charted from Louis Cruise Lines a Cypriot based cruise company and Holland America Line, owned like so many by the Carnival Corporation. The ships are MS The Calypso, SS The Emerald, MS Thomson Celebration, MS Thomson Destiny and the MS Thomson Spirit.
Originally started in 1973, Thomson Cruises only lasted three years, then in 1996, they re opened their doors to the cruising world. Their offerings tend to centre on Med Cruises and occasionally Caribbean Cruises, though they do also offer Red Sea cruises.
Many guests are surprised when they cruise with Thomson as to the value for money and Thomson Cruises are in direct competition with Island Cruises another cruise line that was started by a travel agent and Ocean Village.
