When P&O Cruises looked at the cruise industry from a UK perspective, they introduced Ocean Village Cruises as they soon realised the need for a less formal cruise line. Ocean Village now have two ships, both belonged to P&O Cruises at some point in their lives and are now known as Ocean Village and Ocean Village 2.
These two ships operate Med Cruises during the summer and Caribbean Cruises in the winter. Med cruises are out of Palma, which serves the western Med and Heraklion for the eastern Med. During the winter the two Ocean Village Cruises ships cross the Atlantic and take up positions in Jamaica and Barbados offering week or two weeks long cruises.
The well known TV chef James Martin has a restaurant on each ship, where a meal can be purchased for a small cover charge. He regularly cruises with the ships in order to check on the restaurants and also to give the guests extra value.
By using charter flights to their destinations, Ocean Village Cruises are at the cheaper end of the market and yet the standard throughout is exceptional.
