Holland America Line, often referred to as HAL among the cruising fraternity is a high class cruise line and like so many others is run by the Carnival Corporation. To keep up with other cruise lines, HAL have spent million of pounds in updating their ships as they try to keep their standards as high as their major competitor, the Royal Caribbean International owned Celebrity Cruises.

With 13 ships in the fleet, this will be increased in 2008 to fourteen when ms Eurodam is launched. Rather then buying more new builds, Holland America Line has decided to change four of their ships, the Vista class, this will be finished in 2009.
