Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity Cruises was a Greek owned cruise line that was bought out by Royal Caribbean International. This cruise line offers an American upmarket style cruise and is very popular among those wanting the best that cruising has to offer, yet in a more relaxed style.
During 2007, Celebrity Cruises formed a cruise line, calling it Azamara Cruises giving it two ships taken from another Royal Caribbean purchase, the Spanish cruise line Pullmantur Cruises. The ships are now named Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest and were once owned by the now defunct Renaissance Cruise Line.
Although modern ships tend to be getting bigger Celebrity Cruises do have another small ship the Xpedition which spends its time cruising around the Galapagos Islands off the coast of South America. They are though awaiting their next class of cruise ship, which will be their largest, the Solstice class.
A refurbishment program has recently taken place aboard many of the cruise ships to bring them up to the Millennium class standard as Celebrity Cruises strive to fight off the threat of Holland America and Princess Cruises from among the Carnival Corporations many cruise lines.
