Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises or rather Costa Crociere S.p.A. their real name is an Italian cruise line and is part of Carnival Corporation.

Costa Cruises currently has 12 ships with three more on order and started life as a freight line rather like their Italian counterparts MSC Cruises. In 1924, they introduced cruising under the name Costa Line. This was changed to Line C throughout the fifty’s and sixty’s, before settling on the name Costa Cruises.

Like many cruise lines, Costa Cruises own a smaller cruise company, in their case it is Aida Cruises a German line. Aida Cruises are one of the few of these smaller cruise companies that have benefited from being owned by another cruise line within the Carnival Corporation banner as they have received new builds and have not suffered loosing better ships for older ones, a habit Royal Caribbean has of doing.

Costa cruise to all areas of the globe and recently introduced Dubai to the world of cruising. This proved so popular that for 2008 Costa Cruises has announced they will be sending two ships to Dubai.
