I recently added Search Engine Listings as one of the main search terms for this website, yet it is one of those peculiar terms that does not get searched very often. So why have I added it to my websites main Title tag?

Well believe it or not it will actually help me rank for Search Engine Optimization, how do I know this? Well that is why I am doing my job, while you are doing yours. I also bet you never found my site by using the term Search Engine Listings!

Affiliate Marketing Solutions, Silvertap

I have just been refused access to an affiliate scheme run by a company called Silvertap, an Affiliate Marketing Solutions company.

So what is Affiliate Marketing Solutions? Well it is a term used by Search Engine Optimization companies and marketing companies to promote affiliate schemes for other companies on the web. However with about 46 people searching the term each month, it is actually an excuse for their own poor optimization. Why attack this term when Affiliate Marketing has over 8,000 searches a month?

But then Silvertap are fourth for Affiliate Marketing Solutions and only 79th for Affiliate Marketing; I guess their position for the former will impress their merchants. This post has been replaced by another on as they do actually rank high for Affiliate Marketing under another name!

Anyway not sure why I am posting this, so I will stop, I will not mention Silvertap or Affiliate Marketing Solutions again, well not for a day or so anyway!

Categories and Search Engine Optimization

A tip if you are using blogging software is to use categories such as the Search Engine Optimization shown here. Why? well it groups all the posts under the term Search Engine Optimization together under one heading. Almost like creating a whole page on the term.

Categories and Search Engine Optimization, if used well, will give you great results.

Searching is now a Four Word Thing

Google have recently announced that the average search term is of four words, so what does this mean for searching? Well it means more people are being more specific when they ask Google et al to give them search results.

How does this effect a search engine optimisation team? Well it means that every new job not only needs optimization for the main search term, it also need localised keyword research as well!

Christmas Search Engine Optimization

Firstly may I wish you all a Happy Christmas, secondly, just because it is Christmas, search engine optimisation does not stop!

Remember, search engine optimisation looks at three things, the coding, the content and the off site bits and pieces. So why the post on Christmas Day? Well the content should not be static, it needs updating on occasions, when better to do it than when others are away from their desks. Google does not stop, it is a Bot! It is not at home with Mrs Bot, it still craves for new things to look at.

So if you want to get on, post things daily or set them up on autopilot and let it post on days when others are away, typically Sundays and Holidays. Whichever way you do it, it will help your overall search engine optimisation.

Search Engine Optimization Updated

Just to say that we have taken the plunge and for the purposes of Search Engine Optimization, the whole of this website now uses WordPress as its content management system.

I feel that WordPress, along with its All in one SEO Pack, now surpasses even the most expensive systems on the market.

This blog will now be used to talk about items other than search engine optimization, well maybe, while all our search engine optimization news will now feature elsewhere.

There are still some pages to be moved within the system, but soon our fully Search Engine Optimization Updated website will be finished.

As an update to this post we have added a new catagory called WordPress SEO.

Definition of Search Engine Optimization

I was going to write a post on the Definition of Search Engine Optimisation, but found a great post on another website called “Potter World Online.” The post entitled The Definition of Search Engine Optimization states that “Search engine optimisation is the art and science of making web pages attractive to the search engines,” well I guess no one can knock that quote.

I can’t believe how much people are willing to pay for Search Engine Submission as part of a search engine optimization package! It just is not needed. Google, Yahoo and MSN make up the baulk of searches in the UK and the US, so all you need is some way of getting Google to your site. There are many ways to do this and a simple but effective one is to join a popular forum and post a message with your website in the signature.

Now that is not the end of search engine optimization, not by far, but as you build links Google et al will keep coming back, automatically submitting your website as it goes.
