Formula 1 is Fixed Update
September 13, 2008 by admin ·
I was thinking of updating my Formula 1 is Fixed post form last weekend and went to the BBC website this morning and can’t believe that so many drivers think it was right to deduct time and therefore give victory to Massa for Lewis Hamilton’s little spat with Raikkonen.
On further investigation I went to the official Formula 1 website and read that McLaren lodge Belgian Grand Prix appeal, which is the right move for them. However delving deeper into the official Formula 1 website there is a very interesting post entitled, McLaren: race control gave us the all clear, twice Mclaren asked if the move was OK and twice they were told yes. If race control had said no, then Hamilton could have let Raikkonen through later, he did not have to do this because race control said he was OK. Therefore acting upon race controls answer Mclaren let Hamilton drive to his hearts content and a win. If fault lies anywhere here, surely it is with race control and not Mclaren or Hamilton?
Interestingly the Daily Mail this week suggested that one of the three stewards who made the decision last weekend, which somehow took 2 hours to make, is a friend and also works in the same office as Max Mosley a man who apparently dislikes Ron Dennis. Mosley is reported as saying to Autosport “I quite like him,…But I do despise - I think that’s probably the right word - his attitude to Formula One.” Despise! Interesting!
Talking of attitude to formula 1, what about Ecclestone when asked on TV if he wanted Hamilton to win the title last year, he clearly stated that a win by another driver would be better for the sport, or words to that effect. He is also constantly suggesting that others are better than Hamilton, two quotes from Eurosport.yahoo website, all apparently said be Ecclestone “Both former team-mate Fernando Alonso and new world championship leader Robert Kubica would do a better job than Lewis Hamilton in the same car, F1 ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone asserts“, “If he was still in a McLaren he would be showing Lewis the way home,” Ecclestone told The Times. “I don’t think there is any doubt about that,” well Bernie, last year Alonso WAS IN THE SAME CAR and he was soundly beaten by Hamilton.
What is it about Mclaren that Ecclestone hates? Remember last year when BMW and Sauber where penalised for the temperature of their fuel, he said “If anybody thinks that’s the best thing for Formula One, then I’d have a very serious thought about me retiring,” why? Well it would help Hamilton and Mclaren. But his suggestion of retiring, what is that all about? Surely it was aimed at putting pressure on the people who make the decisions? Or was it?
I could go on and on and on, but I will not, as to whether Formula 1 is Fixed, I do not know, what I do know is that many people on forums around the world such as ITV’s Forum are not happy with the state of play and journalists also have concerns. To me it is obvious, Mosley and Ecclestone for whatever reason have a problem with Mclaren or people to do with Mclaren, that in itself does not make the statement Formula 1 is Fixed as being a true statement, however until a decision that effects the world championship goes against Ferrari, I am doubtful it is not an untrue summary of the condition of F1.
I am leaving posting of comments open on this post and will allow all posts that have a real contribution to this possible debate intact. Others will be deleted, so if you have an opinion on whether Formula 1 is Fixed, please leave a comment. Comments will be updated once a day.
Formula 1 is Fixed

Why is it that Mclaren are always penalised for any incident while Ferrari are let off, perhaps Formula 1 is fixed? F1 stands fro Formula 1 not Ferrari 1! I am seriously thinking about turning off the TV every time a GP race comes on. Anyone watching today’s race saw Lewis Hamilton drop back behind Raikkonen before overtaking him at the next corner after an incident where he took the lead by default. This has led to Lewis Hamilton loosing his win, what would have happened if it had been a Ferrari…NOTHING!
Earlier the other Mclaren driven by Kovalainen was penalised after a bad manoeuvre, however when a Ferrari is involved it is often put back to after the race.
Formula 1, F1 or Ferrari 1 is becoming a farce, remember the race in the US a couple of years ago, which team raced when all the others said it was unsafe? Ferrari.
If Lewis Hamilton does not get the race back then I and many others will be concerned that Formula 1 is Fixed! To read the story visit the F1 site.
