Escape to Prague

Escapetoprague encapsulates the experience that most visitors feel when they visit this magical city
Prague offers something for everyone with its wide variety of entertainment, galleries, theatres, pubs and restaurants. It’s a city full of rich opulence with an epic history and the cityscape is simply quite stunning. It’s known as ‘the city of 100 spires’, having over 4000 monuments and 150 places of interests, the vast majority within easy walking distance of our apartments.
Wenceslas Square is a vibrant boulevard that comfortably holds up to 400,000 people. Over the years, it has been the scene for many a celebration or political protest. Hotels and restaurants occupy many of the buildings here but, the bustle of the crowd in and around the square confirm that many of the best shops can be found here too. The souvenir shops, the classy shopping malls and antique shops can all be found here. Products such as Czech amber, crystal, antiques and traditional folk art are the favourite choices of souvenir.
When you first glimpse Charles Bridge – one of Europe’s oldest stone bridges, the view will take your breath away. It is spectacularly lit up at night and with the Castle in the background, it is simply awesome. The actor Matt Damon was in Prague for around six months filming ‘The Brothers Grimm’ with the late Heath Ledger. He crossed the bridge over 200 times whilst he was here filming. And don’t be surprised to see film crews as you walk around the cobbled streets – ‘Mission Impossible’ (Tom Cruise), ‘Blade’ (Wesley Snipes), ‘From Hell’ (Jonny Depp) are just a few of the movies filmed here.
Overlooking the city stands the magnificent Prague Castle – the number one attraction and the largest castle complex in the world to house the Head of State. From the observational gallery in the Vladislav Hall, the views over the whole of Prague are spectacular.
Just a short stroll from any of our apartments you will find the Old Town Square, which is the heart of the city. It’s a maze of cobbled streets and ancient courtyards where coffee tables spill out onto the cobbles inviting you to stop and take time out to soak up the atmosphere. It’s free of traffic here except for a few horse-drawn carriages so you can relax and watch the world go by. On the other hand, maybe even try to spot a famous face or two?
Whether you come during spring, summer, autumn – or for the famous Christmas markets, you really do feel as though you are escaping when you visit Prague, and it’s a safe bet that your first visit will not be your last. Be prepared to fall in love with this charming city.
